This following statement was released by AEK:
“AEK FC announces the acquisition of Iranian forward Karim Ansarifard. The footballer has signed a three-year contract with our team until the summer of 2023.”
Ansarifard was available as a free agent following the termination of his contract with Al-Sailiya in Qatar. He has joined AEK as a replacement for Sergio Araujo, who returned to Las Palmas following a loan spell during the second half of the 2019/2020 campaign.
In the past, Ansarifard played his football in Greece with Panionios and Olympiacos between 2015 and 2018, registering a combined total of 32 goals in 78 appearances in the Super League. However, since he was offloaded to Nottingham Forest by the Erythrolefki, the 30-year-old striker has struggled for consistency.
Ansarifard tallied six goals and one assist in 16 games for Al-Sailiya before he left the organisation.
On the international front, Ansarifard has participated in 74 matches with the senior Iranian national team, tallying 18 markers.
