Apollon Smyrnis stay in touch with PAS

In defeating AE Karaiskakis on the road, Apollon Smyrnis kept within seven points of Super League 2 leaders PAS Giannina, while Chania beat Panachaiki and Platanias breezed past struggling AOK Kerkyra.

AE KARAISKAKIS 1-2 APOLLON SMYRNIS
Although PAS Giannina appear to be over the hills and far away, Apollon Smyrnis still hold faint hope of catching the former, and they maintained their grip on second place of the Super League 2 with a tough 2-1 triumph at Karaiskakis.
An own goal from Stefanos Kapias handed the visitors the lead within 120 seconds of kick-off. In the second half, Thomas converted a penalty to put Apollon Smyrnis in the box seat, before Karaiskakis pulled one back through Zisis Chatzistravos in wonderful fashion. Ilias Melkas was later sent off for the hosts.
Karaiskakis, for their part, remain in fifth place of the standings with 31 points on the board.
FC CHANIA 2-1 PANACHAIKI
At the same time, FC Chania made it four wins on the spin, beating Panachaiki 2-1 on the island of Crete.
All three goals were scored in an eventful first half of play. In the second minute, Paschalis Kassos gave Chania a quick advantage, however Panachaiki got back on level terms 13 minutes later with Dimitris Mavrias beating the opposing goalkeeper. Evripidis Giakos, who began the campaign with AE Larissa in the Super League, scored the winner for Chania in the 41st minute.
Chania are just two points behind second-placed Apollon Smyrnis in third spot. Panachaiki, however, are down in eighth with 25 points.
AOK KERKYRA 0-2 PLATANIAS
Following three defeats on the spin, Platanias got back to winning ways at lowly AOK Kerkyra, claiming a 2-0 triumph on the road.
In the first half of proceedings, Saado Abdel Salam Fouflia handed Platanias the lead, before the Cretans sealed the deal in the 55th minute with an insurance marker from Giorgos Kostikos.
Kerkyra, possessing just the one victory in the entire Super League 2 campaign, remain in 11th place. For their part, Platanias are in 10th, but they are 23 points ahead of Kerkyra.
