While it was already reported that the Olympic qualifying tournaments for water polo have been postponed, the same now applies to Olympic qualifying events in artistic swimming (synchronized swimming), diving, and open water swimming. New dates have yet to be announced, but the Olympic qualifiers for all three sports were set to take place in April and May in Japan.

On the continental level, the 2020 European Aquatics Championships have also been postponed. They were initially set to take place from May 11-24 in Budapest, Hungary, but are now scheduled for August 17-30. This means that should the Summer Olympics go on as scheduled, the European Championships would take place just a few weeks later.

Additionally, LEN (Europe’s governing body for aquatics sports) announced that this year’s club competitions in water polo will be completed in September and October. This means that the men’s and women’s teams of Olympiacos, and the women’s team of Vouliagmeni will have to wait about six months to resume play in Europe’s premier water polo competitions.
