Aris inched closer to promotion to the Greek SuperLeague after downing Doxa Dramas 1:0 in Thessaloniki. The co-league leaders opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute through Delizis’ header, a goal which proved decisive at the final whistle. The result keeps Aris tied for first place with OFI on 60 points, thirteen ahead of third-placed Panachaiki, who lost to OFI on Saturday. The Thessalonikis will match up with OFI in Crete on Wednesday with both first place and Football League bragging rights on the line. With the 13-point cushion above Panachaiki, both Aris and OFI will surely grab the two promotion spots to next year’s SuperLeague.

*During Sunday’s match against Aris, Doxa Dramas fielded six foreign players at one time form the 71st to the 77th minute, a direct violation of the Football League’s rule book. The side of Drama will likely be handed a 3:0 forfeit defeat to Aris and a three-point deduction for the incident.

Ergotelis took a big step towards safety with their 5:1 pounding of Panegialios in Irakleio. The Cretans took the lead late in the first half with their in-form goal scorer, Cuypers (41), however shortly after the restart, Stamatis (47) equalized for the visitors. After conceding the equalizer, the hosts when on a rampage from the 57th to 65th minute, scoring three goals in the process with Efford (57), Cuypers (60), and Stamatakos (65) to put Ergotelis ahead 4:1. Efford added a second personal goal late on as Ergotelis celebrated a 5:1 victory that sends the club into the safety zone with 25 points, one ahead of 13th placed Panserraikos. Panegialios sit in the drop zone with 21 points.

In other action, Aiginiakos continue to sit in the relegation zone after falling 2:0 away to Karaiskakis. Kallithea can begin planning for next year’s Gamma Ethniki as they lost at home to in-form Apollon Pontou, who sit in fifth place, two points behind fourth-placed Doxa Dramas. Trikala and AOX Kissamikos were victorious on the road at the expense of Apollon Larissa (0:1) and Sparti (1:3).

Anagennisi Karditsas and Panserraikos were awarded victories over Acharnaikos and Veria, who have withdrawn from the league.
