Aris capped of a great year in style by thumping Xanthi 7:2 (!) at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium in their season finale. Although the match had no impact on the standings, it was a historic showing for the Thessalonikis as they netted seven goals in a league game for the first time in 40 years (39 years, 11 months, 3 days to be exact).

The last time Aris scored seven goals in the A’ Ethniki came back on June 3, 1979 against Kastoria where Aris won by the same 7:2 scoreline as they did on Sunday.

The club’s biggest win in the Greek top flight was recorded on January 12, 1969 against AEL Limassol and against Panathinaikos on May 15, 1932 in the PanHellenic Championship. In both matches, Aris were victorious by an impressive 7:0 scoreline.

Aris claimed fifth place in this year's Super League and will compete in next year's UEFA Europa League, beginning in the second qualifying round.
