So far, it’s certainly been a rollercoaster season at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium, with Aris crashing out of the UEFA Europa League in dramatic fashion before Savvas Pantelidis resigned following a poor start to the Super League. At the moment, Michael Oenning is at the helm, and the German manager has helped steady the ship. The Thessaloniki-based organisation current occupy sixth position of the championship with 22 points from 16 games.

There could be a wave of departures in the winter. Lerin Duarte, Alex Menendez, Dimitris Konstantinidis and Martin Tonso, all surplus to requirements, are fully expected to leave Aris, either with their contracts being cancelled or other clubs signing them. In the summer, Duarte did pen a three-year deal with Aris, so it won’t be easy for the team to cancel his contract. The Dutchman, 25, has only played in two Super League games.

The media are also suggesting that Nicolas Diguiny could be on his way out. In the current campaign, the 31-year-old French striker has been a consistent performer for Aris, contributing with a grand total of five goals and one assist across all competitions. However, Apollon Limassol are reportedly interested in signing Diguiny, and it remains to be seen if Aris decide to sell one of their star players. Diguiny joined Aris in July 2018 from Atromitos.

On the arrivals front, no concrete names have yet been linked with Aris, but the organisation is keen to sign a full-back as an alternative option to Mihaly Korhut, and the Macedonians are also eager to bolster their ranks with a defensive midfielder.

Aris’ main goal for the first stage of 2020 will be to safely qualify for the Super League championship playoffs. They are level on points with seventh-placed Panathinaikos.
