Born in the USA, 20-year-old Armenakas has already represented a number of clubs, notably competing in the Brescia and Watford academies before penning a contract with Udinese. In the 2017/2018 season, Armenakas played on loan at AFC Tubize in Belgium, however he couldn’t make an impression in the Proximus League.

For the past month, Armenakas has been on trail at Panathinaikos, and with head coach Giorgos Donis impressed by his ability, the Athenians decided to sign him on a 2.5 year contract. The club confirmed Armenakas’ arrival with this following statement:

“Panathinaikos FC announces the arrival of Panos Armenakas. The 20-year-old has signed a 2.5 year contract and is the first transfer of the winter. He will wear the number 33 on his shirt.”

In an interview with Panathinaikos, Armenakas shared his initial thoughts from joining the Greens: “I know how big a club Panathinaikos is and I was happy to hear that they were interested in signing me. I will do my best to help the team.

The fans will see what I can do on the pitch. I’ve been feeling good in training, but in order to gain 100% match fitness again, I need to play games. We have a good team and certain improvements must be made if we’re to improve further.”

On the international stage, the winger originally played for the under 17 Greek national team, however he has since represented Australia at youth level after moving to the country at a young age. His value is rated at 100 thousand euros by Transfermarkt.
