Asteras clinch second league win against Larissa

Asteras Tripolis chalked up only their second win of the season on Saturday as the Arcadian outfit defeated Larissa 2-0 at the Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium.

In new coach Georgios Paraschos’ first match in charge, second-half goals from Nikos Kaltsas and Michalis Manias proved enough to see off a battling Larissa side and claim three much-needed points.
Kaltsas scored five minutes after half-time and Manias, after a nervy finish, finally put the game to bed with a goal in the last minute to give the club some breathing space.
Before Paraschos’ recent arrival in place of Savvas Pantelidis, Asteras had lost six, drawn three times and won only once in 10 matches, form which had them second from bottom in the table - a place they are not used to being in recent seasons.
After tonight’s win, Asteras moved up to 12th place with nine points, while Larissa remain 11th, two points ahead.
