According to reports in the Italian press, Serie A side, Atalanta, have shown interest in signing PAOK left-back Dimitris Giannoulis. The report states that Atalanta have been gathering information in recent days about the 24-year-old’s release clause and financial demands.

Atalanta are aware of the ten million euro buyout clause in Giannoulis’ contract but are confident that they could sign him for a transfer sum close to five million euros. PAOK officials have been adamant in stating that they will not allow Giannoulis to depart Thessaloniki unless his ten million euro clause is triggered. If Atalanta do trigger this clause, PAOK will have no say in the negotiations, and it will be Giannoulis’ decision if he wants to make a move west.

Earlier this season, PAOK manager, Abel Ferreira, described Giannoulis as a ‘world-class left-back,’ as the Greek international took his game to the next level and became a crucial component in Ferreira’s team. Both Roma and Napoli were reportedly interested in acquiring Giannoulis last January.

The defender’s market value is estimated to be 3.5 million euros, according to transfermarkt.

A number of clubs interested in Dimitris Limnios

Dimitris Limnios has been a standout performer for both PAOK and the Greek national team this season, with excellent performances on the right-wing. The 21-year-old has also attracted interest from several clubs abroad.

Limnios has scored six goals and dished six assists for PAOK this campaign. The youngster currently has a 15 million euro release clause in his contract, which will make a transfer difficult to complete unless, of course, PAOK agree to a lower sum.

Vieirinha and Savvidis in negotiations over contract renewal

According to Sport FM, the contract renewal of club captain Andre Vieirinha is of a high priority to PAOK, with a willingness from both parties to negotiate a contract renewal. Vieirinha’s current contract is set to expire at the conclusion of this season.

Ivan Savvidis and Vieirinha met last week, where the PAOK supremo expressed his desire to keep Vieirinha at the club as an integral member of next season’s squad. The former Portuguese international has been a major influential figure both on and off the pitch in PAOK’s success in recent years.

Leo Matos set to remain at PAOK next season

PAOK will also likely retain Leo Matos for the next campaign as the right-back is expected to sign a new contract, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

PAOK have promised the right-back that he will again be a key part of the squad for next season. The 34-year-old is highly regarded within the club for his leadership qualities, as well as having an excellent relationship with the Savvidis family.
