In the Friday morning papers, specifically AEK based Oras ton Spor, it was reported that an offer from abroad had come in for AEK’s Tasos Bakasetas. The report was later confirmed by the Turkish media with Alanyaspor putting in a bid of just under one million euros for the 25-year-old, an offer which AEK has accepted.

Bakasetas also agreed to terms with the Turkish club which will see him earn a pay rise of 100,000 euros per year. Reports also mention that Bakasetas is already in Turkey to undergo the necessary medical tests and pen a deal with his new club.

Alanyaspor is home to (former) Greek international Georgios Tzavellas and also has the likes of Lucas Villafanez (former Panathinaikos and Panetolikos player) and Djalma Campos (former PAOK player). Up until December 2018, Giannis Maniatis enjoyed his football at the Alanya based club.

Erol Bulut is currently the head coach at Alanyaspor, who like Bakasetas, has enjoyed a spell at Panionios in his playing career. Bulut also played for Super League giants Olympiacos.

In the early part of last season, Bakasetas, along with Andre Simoes and Vasilis Lambropoulos, were ostracized by club president Dimitris Melissanidis after the three players failed to sign a contract extension with the Kitrinomavri. Bakasetas and Simoes eventually penned a new deal with the Enosis (Lambropoulos did not), but it looks like Bakasetas is on his way out.

According to both SportFM.gr and gazzetta.gr, new AEK boss Miguel Cardoso was not expected to give Bakasetas a leading role in the AEK squad for the new season and as a result, Bakasetas decided to continue his career elsewhere.

This past season, Bakasetas scored four goals from 22 Super League matches, three goals in the Cup, and one goal in five UEFA Champions League matches. He began his career with Asteras Tripolis and enjoyed loan spells at Thrasyvoulos and Aris before making a permanent move to Panionios in 2015. One year later, AEK acquired Bakasetas from Panionios for a reported 300,000 euro transfer fee.

With AEK, he made 103 appearances across all competitions with 20 goals scored and 13 assists. Transfermarkt rates his value at 1.5 million euros.
