Kivrakidis’ 14th-minute strike proved the difference between the two teams at the Peristeri Municipal Stadium as Damir Canadi’s team bounced back from a run of three successive defeats.
As well as last weekend’s 2-1 defeat by Olympiacos, Atromitos also lost 1-0 to AEK and 3-0 at PAOK in recent matches, but they returned with winning ways comfortably this time against Apollon, who are heading for the Football League this season.
Kivrakidis’ goal came at a time when Atromitos were well on top in the early stages, with Egyptian forward Amr Warna teeing up his team-mate perfectly to score with a clinical finish.
Atromitos missed a few decent further chances to extend their lead, but it mattered not as there was not much in the way of an attacking threat from Apollon.
The result sets up a mouth-watering “final” for third spot with Atromitos scheduled to meet Aris in Thessaloniki this weekend.
