On Sunday, Olympiacos released this following statement:

“Olympiacos BC announces its agreement with Giorgos Bartzokas. The experienced coach has signed a 2.5 year contract with our club.”

Olympiacos had earlier confirmed the departure of Kestutis Kemzura.

Bartzokas, 54, had been unemployed since he was dismissed by Khimki in January 2019. In the past, Bartzokas was the boss of Olympiacos between 2012 and 2014, inspiring the Erythrolefki to the 2012/2013 EuroLeague championship. He remains very popular among the Olympiacos fan base.

At the moment, Olympiacos occupy 13th place of the EuroLeague regular season standings, possessing seven victories and 11 defeats in 18 games. Kemzura had been in charge since David Blatt was dismissed after an opening-day loss to ASVEL in the competition.
