Panathinaikos snapped a two-game losing skid in the EuroLeague with a 106-102 overtime win over CSKA Moscow in the Russian capital on Friday night.
Nick Calathes’ dominant double-double featuring 22 points and 17 assists steered Panathinaikos to victory in the extra frame to help the Athenians improve to 10-7 on the season.
In perhaps one of the games of the season and certainly an instant classic, Calathes’ clutch three-pointer with seven seconds left sent the game to overtime before continuing his dominance in the extra frame.
It’s the second time this season Calathes has been named MVP of the Round and the sixth time overall the 30-year-old has received the honour.
Calathes will look to continue his impressive form in the EuroLeague next week when Panathinaikos travel to Italy for a showdown with AX Armani Exchange Milan on Wednesday night.
