On Monday, Ran Ben Shimon announced the 23-men squad for the upcoming games in EURO 2020 qualifying. Cyprus will first face Kazakhstan in Nicosia on Friday (9/6) and then on Monday (9/9), will play away against San Marino. Both games are considered most win fixtures if Cyprus are to keep their hopes alive for qualifying for next summer’s event.
Ben Shimon called up Tottenham’s Jack Roles for the first time after the youngster made appearances with the U21 squad. The young English-Cypriot recently participated in the friendly against Juventus in the preseason and is now on loan with Cambridge United.
Pafos’ Andreas Panagiotou Filiotis and Doxa’s Konstantinos Mintikkis returned to the squad after two and four-year absence, respectively. Overall, the call-ups include players from ten Cypriot teams and six foreign teams while Apollon Limassol has the most representatives with four players.
