Datkovic joins Aris with three-year contract

Croatian defender Toni Datkovic has signed a three-year contract with Aris, the Thessaloniki-based organisation confirmed on Tuesday.

This following statement was released by Aris:

“Aris FC announces the acquisition of Toni Datkovic. The 26-year-old Croatian defender, born on 6 November 1993 in Zagreb, has signed a three-year contract with our team.”

Transfermarkt has stated that Aris paid Lokomotiva Zagreb a grand total of 640,000 euros to sign Datkovic. The Croatian centre-back had spent the 2019/2020 campaign on loan at Huesca in Spain.

“I’m happy and proud to sign for Aris,” remarked Datkovic after completing the move to Thessaloniki. “I know the size of this club, its history and of course the atmosphere which the fans create. After Angelos Charisteas presented the plan to me, it was easy for me to accept Aris’ proposal. I can promise Aris supporters that I will give my heart and soul for this team on the pitch.”

Datkovic made 17 appearances in La Liga 2 for Huesca last season. He played in one match for the senior Croatian national team in January 2017.
