Since transferring to St Pauli from fellow second German Bundesliga club Bochum in January, Diamantakos has been limited to mere eight appearances for his new team, often coming off the bench as a substitute and being left out of the squad. However, the 2012 UEFA European U19 Championship finalist finally grabbed his first goal with St Pauli on Saturday, hitting the target after eight minutes of play against Greuther Furth. Lurking inside the box, Diamantakos gathered a floating corner to lash an unstoppable volley beyond the goalkeeper. The 25-year old played the entire 90 minutes and St Pauli went on to claim a 3:0 victory.

Taking into account his matches with previous club Bochum, striker Diamantakos has scored three goals in 17 Bundesliga-2 games in the 2017/2018 season. St Pauli currently occupy 13th place of the table with 40 points.
