Fetfatzidis salvages draw for Aris

Giannis Fetfatzidis scored an added time equaliser to cap a fine individual performance and secure a valuable 2-2 draw for Aris against Atromitos on Sunday in an enthralling Matchday 13 encounter in Peristeri.

Apostolos Vellios opened the scoring for the home side after 24 minutes in new coach Savvas Pantelidis’ first game in charge, but Bruno Gama levelled matters on the stroke of half-time to send the teams into the dressing rooms at 1-1.
A tightly-contested second half saw Atromitos go 2-1 up from the penalty spot with just four minutes left, but just when it seemed that the home side would take the three points, Fetfatzidis, who was arguably the game’s best player, scored a clinical equaliser in the second minute of added time.
The result does nothing to help either side’s ambitions, with Aris, who are unbeaten now for seven matches, remaining in seventh place although still in the hunt for the Play Offs, while Atromitos are unmoved down in 10th.
There were chances for both sides to win the match in the dying stages, with first Atromitos defender Spyros Risvanis clearing an acrobatic effort from Daniel Mancini off the line, and with the last kick of the game Atromitos’ Petros Giakoumakis shinned a great chance over the crossbar with only the keeper to beat.
