Fountas named Player of the Year at Rapid Vienna
Taxiarchis Fountas, enjoying a strong campaign in Austria, has been voted the Player of the Year by Rapid Vienna supporters.

Recently, on their social media platforms, Rapid confirmed that Fountas has been crowned the Player of the Year for 2019, with the 24-year-old forward having gained 34% of the fans’ votes:

Fountas only joined Rapid Vienna in the summer of 2019. However, ever since he transferred to Rapid as a free agent from St. Polten, the Greek forward has shone with effective, productive performances on the pitch.
So far, with half of the 2019/2020 season in the books, Fountas has scored an impressive 12 goals and dished out two assists in just 17 appearances, with all of his markers being tallied in the Austrian Bundesliga. In the past, Fountas has earned a reputation of a journeyman by failing to settle at any of his previous eight clubs, but he appears to have finally found stability.
At the moment, Rapid Vienna occupy third place of the domestic championship, holding 32 points from 16 games.
Fountas, valued at two million euros by Transfermarkt, has been linked with a possible call-up to the Greek national team. John van ‘t Schip is reportedly keeping a close eye on his progress.
Previously, Fountas played in three games for the senior national team, making his debut in June 2015.
