There was a goalless draw between Doxa Katokopias and Nea Salamina in Nicosia at the Makareio Stadium, while Omonoia pulled out a 2-1 win away to Ethnikos Achnas.

The action started with Doxa Katokopias hosting Nea Salamina on Friday. An effort from Vasilis Papafotis for the hosts in the 17th minute was successfully saved by Tasos Kissas, Kingsley Onuegbu sent his header went over the crossbar. A minute later Stefanos Mouktaris missed a chance in similar fashion for Doxa.

The second half continued in the same slow tempo as the first one. Salamina had most of the possession however they failed to create any significant opportunities in front of Giorgos Paraskevas. Doxa missed the biggest chance of the game in the 76th minute. Luis Carlos went into the counter found himself against Kissas, but he tried to give the assist to Carlitos and it came to nothing.

Salamina is eighth with 10 points, but Doxa are down at the bottom with three.

Ethnikos Achnas hosted Omonoia at the Dasaki tis Achnas in Achna. Omonoia got the start they wanted just six minutes in; Thiago laid off for Matt Derbyshire who slid it past Martin Bogatinov to make it 1-0.

The same connection nearly struck again, but this time Bogatinov denied Derbyshire’s back-heeled effort. At the other end, Miguelito fired off a low, powerful strike that Fabiano did very well to not only save, but also to hang on to the rebound. Fabiano came up large again when he denied Ihor Khudobyak at the near post.

Ethnikos got their equalizer on a free kick. Khudobyak faked the shot, and Vincent Laban surprised Fabiano to make it 1-1 in the 44th minute.

In the second half, Omonoia came out determined to regain their lead. Thiago continued to create, setting up a good chance for Eric Bautheac, but Bogatinov kicked it aside. Charis Mavrias crossed in for Bautheac who went for the volley, but it lacked power and Bogatinov stopped it with ease.

In the 72nd minute, Omonoia finally got the goal they were looking for. Thiago tried to play a through ball, and it caromed off an Ethnikos defender right to Derbyshire, who blasted it past Bogatinov for his second goal of the match, putting Omonoia back on top. Omonoia did well to control the play from there on, until the very last play, when Giorgos Papageorgiou teed up a chance for Illya Markovskyy, but Fabiano made the save.

Omonoia return to first place for the time being with the win, although Anorthosis and APOEL each have multiple games in hand. Ethnikos remain in sixth place.
