France, the tournament hosts and 2015 European champions, dominated the first two sets. They took the first set 25-14, and the second set 25-18 to go up 2-0 overall.

The third set was far more competitive, as the score was tied at 13-13 midway through the set. The French then led 17-13 and 20-18, but Greece fought back to reduce France’s lead to 21-20. Ultimately, the French closed out the set 26-24 to complete the 3-0 sweep of Greece.

Despite three losses in three matches, the Greeks are still very much alive in the competition, as the top four (out of six) teams in each group will advance to the knockout phase. Portugal and Romania also remain winless in Group A, and Greece will face Romania on Monday and Portugal on Tuesday, two matches that will decide' the Ethniki’s fate in the tournament.
