Greece U21 squad to face Scotland revealed

The Hellenic Football Federation has revealed the list of players included in the under 21 national team for the important UEFA European Championship qualifier in Scotland.

These following players have been called up to the under 21 national team for the upcoming match against Scotland by head coach, Giannis Goumas:

Goalkeepers: Marios Siampanis (Nottingham Forest), Antonis Stergiakis (Slavia Sofia), Panagiotis Katsikas (Lamia).

Defenders: Alexandros Katranis (Atromitos), Dimitris Nikolaou (Empoli), Panagiotis Retsos (Bayer Leverkusen), Stefanos Evangelou (Panionios), Lefteris Lyratzis (Volos NFC), Apostolos Diamantis (Volos NFC), Giannis Michalidis (PAOK), Odysseas Lymperakis (Panionios).

Midfielders: Giannis Papanikolaou (Panionios), Giannis-Fivos Botos (AEK), Nemanja Milojevic (Panionios), Giannis Bouzoukis (Panathinaikos), Spyros Natsos (Atromitos), Konstantinos Apostolakis (Panathinaikos), Georgios Daviotis (Atromitos), Konstantinos Balogiannis (Volos NFC), Giannis Oikonomidis (Panionios).

Forwards: Fotis Ioannidis (Levadiakos), Argyris Kampetsis (Panathinaikos), Dimitris Emmanouilidis (Panionios).

A notable inclusion is Bayer Leverkusen defender Panagiotis Retsos who has recently fully recovered from a long-term injury. Retsos, 21, has been plagued by injuries since moving to Leverkusen from Olympiacos in the summer of 2017.

The match against Scotland will take place at Tynecastle Park, Edinburgh on November 15. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 local time.

At the moment, Scotland sit in first place of Group 4 with eight points from four matches, but Greece are just one point behind in second with a game in hand.

The 2021 UEFA U21 European Championship will be played in Hungary and Slovenia.

Each qualifying group winner automatically qualifies for the competition. The best runner-up will also qualify, while the remaining nations which finished in second place of their respective groups enter qualification playoffs.
