Greek goals witnessed across European leagues

Georgios Tzavellas and Tasos Bakasetas both struck gold for Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig, Konstantinos Stafylidis scored a wonderful goal with Hoffenheim in Germany and Vangelis Pavlidis hit the target for Willem II in the Eredivisie.

In the day’s early kick-off in Turkey, Alanyaspor faced Kayserispor at home, subsequently earning an impressive 5-1 victory which keeps the club in fourth place of the table with 32 points from 18 games. 

Seven minutes before the half-time break, Tzavellas broke the deadlock, as he fired in a powerful effort from close range. In the second half, former AEK player Bakasetas doubled the advantage for Alanyaspor, thumping a thunderous shot beyond the stricken goalkeeper. 

Tzavellas played the entire 90 minutes, while Bakasetas was substituted in the 68th minute of play. Manolis Siopis played the full game in the centre of the midfield, contributing with an assist for the third Alanyaspor goal.

Elsewhere, full-back Konstantinos Stafylidis got on the scoreboard in spectacular fashion for Hoffenheim, equalising in the 48th minute of the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt at home.

After the ball kindly landed at his feet, Stafylidis unleashed an unstoppable attempt which flew into the right corner. The 26-year-old played the 90 minutes.

However, despite his goal, Hoffenheim did end up losing the match 2-1. Hoffenheim sit in eighth place of the Bundesliga standings with 27 points on the board after 18 rounds.

In the Netherlands, Vangelis Pavlidis notched his first goal of 2020 with Willem II, netting the second marker for his team in an important 3-1 triumph at AZ Alkmaar.

With 12 minutes remaining, Pavlidis neatly collected the ball inside the penalty area, took aim and dinked his shot over the onrushing goalkeeper to give Willem II the lead. Pavlidis, 21, played the entire game, while Marios Vrousai and Giorgos Strezos were left on the bench.

Willem are third in the Eredivisie table, trailing second-placed AZ by five points.
