Greek women smash Slovakia
EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS - PRELIM. ROUND, GROUP A (MATCHDAY 3)
Greece’s women’s water polo team defeated Slovakia 18-2 at the European Championships in Budapest, booking their place in the quarterfinals.

Greece got off to a good start and never looked back, as they led 4-0 after the first period. Greece then extended this lead to 8-2 by halftime. In the second half, the Slovaks were completely shut out, as they were held goalless. Greece were ahead 14-2 after the third period, before ultimately winning 18-2.
Margarita Plevritou led Greece with five goals, while Eleftheria Plevritou and Eleni Xenaki each scored three goals. Vasiliki Diamantopoulou and Christina Kotsia each found the back of the net twice as well.
Things will be much more difficult for Greece in the next match, as they will take on Hungary. The hosts are also undefeated after their first three matches.
