On the island of Rhodes, AEK were given a decent test by strugglers Kolossos, eventually emerging victorious by a score of 79-70 to remain in second place of the Basket League with an 11-4 record. Ilias Papatheodorou’s troops, who have now conceded two defeats in a row in the Basketball Champions League, haven’t suffered a loss in the Basket League since a 67-75 setback at the Rethymno Cretan Kings in late October.

Interestingly, boasting 10 successive victories, AEK have broken their previous record of nine consecutive wins in the championship which was achieved in the 1996/1997 and 2001/2002 season:

AEK - Panionios - 91-61

Iraklis - AEK - 68-77

Lavrio - AEK - 60-73

AEK - Promitheas - 73-68

PAOK - AEK - 67-71

AEK - Aris - 92-79

Larisa - AEK - 76-86

AEK - Ionikos Nikaia - 103-70

AEK - Panathinaikos - 100-97

Kolossos Rodou - AEK - 70-79

PANATHINAIKOS REACH 800 VICTORIES

With their focus fully on the EuroLeague, reigning Greek champions Panathinaikos have conceded two defeats in 15 Basket League matches, as Peristeri and AEK both defeated the Prasini earlier in the season. Nevertheless, Panathinaikos are still in first place of the league, and their confident 105-74 victory against Lavrio at the OAKA Indoor Hall last week marked their 800th win in the championship. Panathinaikos are the first club to achieve 800 victories in the domestic league.

At the same time, the in-form Konstantinos Mitoglou notched his third double-double of the 2019/2020 Basket League, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Lavrio, although they conceded their eighth loss of the season, pulled off 15 steals, their best tally since making 16 against PAOK in the 2015/2016 campaign.

Panathinaikos first to achieve 800 wins in the domestic championship, Konstantinos Mitoglou third double-double of the campaign, Lavrio make 15 steals - best performance since 2015/2016 season when 16 steals were made against PAOK.
