Jose Crespo set to miss two months due to injury

PAOK centre-back Jose Crespo will undergo surgery on his right quadricep and is expected to be out of action for at least two months.

The Spanish defender travelled home to Spain to receive medical advice from the head of medical services at Barcelona FC, Ramon Cugat. PAOK are hopeful that Crespo can return to action within a two-month timeframe, however, it could be longer depending on the surgery.

Crespo’s injury is a significant blow to PAOK as the experienced defender will be absent for one of PAOK’s biggest matches of the season when they face Olympiacos at the Toumba Stadium on February 23rd. He is expected to return to the squad and be available for selection before the Greek Super League playoffs kick-off.

Complications with Leo Jaba’s recovery

PAOK winger, Leo Jaba, is currently undergoing complications with his knee injury, with no timeframe set on when the Brazilian will return to training. Reports indicate that Jaba was recently hospitalised in Thessaloniki to puncture his knee after continuous swelling. It has been a frustrating campaign for the attacking livewire this season, as he has only made nine appearances. 

Rodrigo Rey switches clubs

On-loan goalkeeper, Rodrigo Rey, switched clubs from Pachuca in Mexico to Godoy Cruz in the Argentine Primera Division. Rey will return home to his country of origin, where he played three seasons at the club before moving to PAOK in 2017. He made 18 appearances between the sticks for Pachuca and since his transfer to Argentina, has made one appearance for his new club Godoy Cruz.

PAOK renew youngsters contracts

PAOK renewed the contracts of Giannis Michailidis and Apostolos Diamantis on 3.5-year extensions. The highly-rated defensive duo has represented Greece at the youth national team level and are currently learning and developing their game to become first-team players in the future.
