24-year old Ergys Kace, who moved on loan to Panathinaikos in January 2018, was due to return to parent club PAOK this summer, but the Albanian will remain at the Greens for the upcoming 2018/2019 Super League season. In an added boost to Panathinaikos, the team will have the option to purchase Kace for 400,000 euros after the campaign reaches its completion.

Giorgos Donis, the incoming Panathinaikos boss, was keen on bringing Kace to his former club APOEL Nicosia last season, but he will now have the opportunity to link up with the midfielder. In the 2017/2018 season, Kace competed in 10 Super League matches with Panathinaikos, unable to contribute with any goals or assists. Despite being born in Albania, he began his senior career with PAOK, later sent out on loan to Epanomi, Viktoria Plzen and Panathinaikos. Kace has netted two goals in 21 Albanian national team appearances.

However, on the other hand, PAOK have decided to recall 23-year old forward Giannis Mystakidis back to the Toumba Stadium. Alongside Kace, he was offloaded to Panathinaikos in January, but PAOK head coach Razvan Lucescu is eager to have Mystakidis on his roster again.

On Saturday, Panathinaikos technical director Nikolaos Dabizas tried his best to strike a deal with PAOK in order to keep Mystakidis for the 2018/2019 campaign, however the Dikefalos tou Vorra declined because of Lucescu’s desire to assess the striker’s capabilities during the pre-season. As a result, the Prasini have been forced into scanning the market for other options, but taking into account the transfer restrictions placed on the club, it’s not an easy task.
