In the day’s second match, Levadiakos recovered from a two-goal deficit to equalise against Lamia, but a late winner from Daniel Adejo condemned the Livadeia club to a disappointing defeat.

After a shaky start to the season, Lamia have improved in recent weeks, saving a draw with OFI and defeating AEL. Buoyed by those results, they began with confidence against Levadiakos, opening the scoring on 11 minutes as Facundo Bertoglio headed Stavros Vasilantonopoulos’ pinpoint cross past the goalkeeper. 13 minutes later, Lamia promptly doubled their money, with Jeronimo Barrales glancing the ball over the line at point blank range. Vasilis Pliatsikas came incredibly close to scoring a third with a stunning attempt, but the bar came to Levadiakos’ rescue.

It looked as though the fate of the match was sealed, but Levadiakos had other ideas. In an impressive second half comeback, the unmarked Lenny Nangis sidefooted in, and Petros Giakoumakis directed a clever header under the Lamia goalkeeper’s right arm to make it 2:2 with only nine minutes remaining.

Nevertheless, Lamia weren’t to be denied. A floating corner found the head of Nigerian defender Adejo, who thumped in to send the home fans wild. Levadiakos’ Zisis Karachalios was sent off for two red cards in the dying seconds.

Lamia temporarily rise to ninth in the table ahead of Panionios, but Levadiakos languish in 15th with a mere three points from eight matches.

OFI FRUSTRATE AEL

Larisa 0 - 0 OFI

Hosting newly promoted OFI at the AEL Arena, Larissa were hoping to get their flailing Super League campaign back on track, however they failed to make home advantage count in a 0:0 draw.

In the first half, both teams missed promising early headed chances, before OFI almost took the lead when Vangelis Moras’ clumsy clearance had to be tipped over the crossbar by AEL goalkeeper Ogmundur Kristinsson. Towards the end of the opening stanza, AEL had a shout for a penalty when Milos Deletic fell to the floor, but the referee waved play on.

Eager to take the initiative, AEL spurned two glorious opportunities at the start of the second half, as Petar Kunic and Piti planted powerful headers inches wide. In the closing stages, Piti had another superb chance to hand AEL all three points, however his low free kick was saved by the outstretched palm of Giorgos Strezos. OFI attacker Vangelis Platellas then fizzed a stinging drive off target as the game ended all square.

AEL occupy 11th place of the Super League standings with seven points, while OFI are one spot behind in 12th.
