This following statement was released by Bochum on Friday:

“Vasileios Lampropoulos will wear the VfL Bochum 1848 jersey again. The Greek central defender has signed a contract with our club until 2022 and is moving from Deportivo La Coruna free of charge. He will continue to wear the number 24 for the team.”

“I’m really happy to be back in Bochum,” stated Lampropoulos after signing his contract with the club. “I am looking forward to seeing my teammates again! Last season you saw the potential of our team, and we want to build on that as much as we can in the coming season.”

The 30-year-old centre-back had been on loan at Bochum from Deportivo during the second half of the previous campaign. So far, the ex-AEK defender has made 10 appearances for Bochum, with the team competing in the second tier of German football. Bochum finished in eighth place of the 2019/2020 Bundesliga 2 season.

In the summer of 2019, Lampropoulos made the move to Deportivo after his contract with AEK expired, but he was subsequently loaned out to Bochum in the winter transfer window. Lampropoulos previously became a Greek champion with AEK in the triumphant 2017/2018 Super League season before he was later ostracized by Dimitris Melissanidis because of a contract dispute.

The experienced defender has participated in two games for the senior Greek national team.
