Larissa go fifth after beating OFI in thriller

SUPER LEAGUE - MATCHDAY 9

Larissa 3 - 2 OFI
Moras 14'
Milosavljevic 67'
Dauda 79'
Semedo 4'
Tsilianidis 7'

Larissa continued their impressive recent form with a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory over fellow high-flyers OFI Crete in an enthralling match at the AEL FC Arena on Sunday, while in Agrinio Panetolikos and Asteras Tripolis shared the spoils of a 1-1 draw.

The Vissini fell two goals behind early on as OFI got off to an incredible start with goals from Lisandro Semedo and Kosmas Tsilianidis inside the first seven minutes.

But defender Vangelis Moras pulled a goal back for Larissa after 14 minutes, before second-half goals from Radomir Milosavljevic (68) and Abiola Dauda (79) turned the game on its head and saw the home side take all three points.

It was perhaps rough justice on Georgios Simos’ OFI team, who have surprised everyone so far this season with their performances which have taken them up to third in the standings after nine matches.

Larissa have also defied the odds after being written off for a season of struggle in the summer. Michalis Grigoriou’s men are now fifth with 15 points.

HIGHLIGHTS

All square in Agrinio

Panetolikos 1 - 1 Asteras Tripolis
Martial 17' Barrales (P) 44'

Struggling Panetolikos are still looking for their first win of the Super League season after being held to a 1-1 home draw by Asteras Tripolis.

Makis Chavos’ side went in front after 17 minutes at the Panetolikos Stadium thanks to Johan Martial’s goal, but they were pegged back by in-form Jeronimo Barrales’ 44th-minute leveller for the visitors.

Both teams had further chances to score and win the match but neither goalkeeper was beaten before the 90 minutes were up and both clubs had to settle for a draw - a result which does not help either side.

Panetolikos are second from bottom with just three points from nine games, while Asteras are ninth with 10 points.
