In the day’s early kick-off, Levadiakos hosted Aris, with the home side searching for only their third win of the campaign. However, it was European chasing Aris who came closest in the opening stages, as Nicolas Diguiny had a close range effort punched clear by the alert Levadiakos goalkeeper. Moments later, Marko Markovski should have opened the scoring, sliding wide at point blank range.

Nevertheless, Markovski did break the deadlock seven minutes before half-time. In the penalty area, the forward rose highest to meet a floating cross from the right wing, heading powerfully into the net.

Requiring goals, Aris pushed forward in the second half, but asides from a few hopeful attempts, the Thessaloniki outfit failed to create clear-cut chances. For their part, Levadiakos looked dangerous on the counterattack, however one goal was enough to tally an important victory in Levadeia.

Levadiakos remain in 15th with 12 points and Aris currently sit in eighth on 23 points.

Atromitos drop loss against Lamia

Lamia 2 - 1 Atromitos
Tomas 49'
Barrales (P) 78'

Koulouris 47'

Elsewhere, struggling Atromitos slumped to their second consecutive defeat in the Super League, falling 1:2 at the hands of Lamia.

Midweek, Lamia sent Panathinaikos packing from the Greek Cup, and after beating the Greens in their last league game, they have now won two Super League matches in succession to make it 17 points in 17 games.

Hoping to get back on track after losing to Xanthi in the previous matchday, Atromitos managed to take the lead on 47 minutes, as the prolific Efthymis Koulouris steered with Amr Warda’s low cross past the sprawling goalkeeper. Warda was making his debut for Atromitos this season after transferring from PAOK.

Atromitos were in the box seat, but instead of protecting their lead, they ended up conceding twice. Just two minutes after going behind, Joan Tomas steered the loose ball in for Lamia after Balazs Megyeri had fumbled a free-kick, before a rash tackle from Dimitris Chatziisaias allowed Jeronimo Barrales to score the winner from the penalty spot.

Visitors Atromitos are now four points behind third placed AEK.
