Fresh from defeating CSKA in Moscow, Olympiacos had plenty of confidence for this game, but an in-form Maccabi side dominated proceedings and comfortably saw out the match to win by 25 points. Maccabi Tel Aviv, who are coached by former Olympiacos boss Ioannis Sfairopoulos, have now won four consecutive EuroLeague games.

Maccabi won all four periods in Piraeus. This is Olympiacos’ second loss at home after suffering a defeat against Zenit Saint Petersburg in October.

Giorgos Printezis tallied 16 points, four rebounds and one assist for the Erythrolefki. Tyler Dorsey and Scottie Wilbekin registered 19 points for Maccabi as they took a leading role.

Olympiacos will aim to get back to winning ways when hosting Anadolu Efes next week, while Maccabi welcome ALBA Berlin to Israel.

THE MATCH

Olympiacos held the lead for the first half of the opening quarter. However, as the frame progressed, Maccabi got the game under their control and gained a slender three-point advantage.

The Israeli visitors continued controlling the game in the second quarter. Nevertheless, Olympiacos didn’t allow Maccabi to pull away, and Kevin Punter got a three-point shot to go on the buzzer to get the hosts within five points.

Olympiacos made a positive start to the third quarter as Brandon Paul nailed a three-pointer.

Unfortunately for Olympiacos, that was the closest they got, as Maccabi emphatically won the fourth quarter 22-9 to ease to victory. Maccabi’s three-point shooting was key as they nailed 13 shots from behind the arc, while Olympiacos only scored six three-pointers.
