This is no different for Olympiacos and the top priority at the club is to sign manager Pedro Martins to a new contract. The 50-year-old coach has seen his stock rise considerably over the last two years while in charge of the Piraeus club. This has been due especially to the Erythrolefki’s performances this season where the club has impressed with their superb performances in Europe and fantastic unbeaten run during the Greek Super League 1 regular season.

The exploits of the Portuguese manager during the 2019/20 campaign has seen interest arise for his services from clubs in Portugal and the Middle East. After Olympiacos eliminated Arsenal in a dramatic Europa League Round of 32 match-up, English clubs have also taken notice and Martins is suddenly on the radar of clubs there as well.

The prevailing belief is that Martins’ first choice is to remain at the club. The manager has said so on occasion and the bond between the manager and the club and supporters is evident. Rumors suggest that Martins’ recent visit to the club’s main offices was for initial talks on a renewal, likely to be a new two-year deal. While that cannot be verified yet, what is clear is that Olympiacos are going to do all in their power to keep their man at the club so he can continue the fine work he has started.
