On Friday, AEK released this following statement:

“AEK FC announces the signing of Sergio Araujo on loan from Las Palmas with a purchase option for the summer. The player signed a contract for six months plus three years.”

Araujo will wear the number 11 on his back at AEK:

Las Palmas have confirmed that AEK must activate the purchase option for Araujo, which is believed to stand at three million euros, before May 30. AEK will have to pay Las Palmas a hefty compensation fee if they don’t choose to sign Araujo on a permanent basis.

Araujo is under contract at Las Palmas until June 2023.

The 28-year-old Argentine forward was given a hero’s welcome when arriving in Athens:

In two separate stints at AEK, Araujo helped the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League preliminaries, win the Super League title and make two successive Greek Cup finals.

DELETIC MOVES WHILE LIVAJA BID IS REJECTED

Serbian winger Milos Deletic, signed from AE Larissa in the summer, has moved on loan to Asteras Tripolis for the remainder of the campaign:

“Asteras Tripolis FC announces the signing of Milos Deletic from AEK in the form of a loan for six months.”

Since transferring to AEK from AEL, Deletic competed in nine Super League games, scoring the one goal in a thrilling 2-2 draw with PAOK at the Olympic Stadium.

Reports have also suggested that Christos Giousis and Paris Mpampis will be loaned to Platanias in the Super League 2.

In other news, SPAL submitted a bid of four million for Croatian star Marko Livaja, but AEK supremo Dimitris Melissanidis rejected the Italian offer. During the day, SPAL have made two attempts to sign Livaja, however AEK are not willing to sell one of their best players. Livaja, 26, has contributed with nine goals and four assists this season.
