This following statement was released by AEK on Thursday:

“AEK FC announces the signing of Emanuel Insua. The Argentine full-back has signed a three-year contract with our team.”

Insua had been pictured entering the AEK offices earlier in the day:

The talented 29-year-old left Panathinaikos this summer after spending three successful years with the organisation. Following his departure from the Greens, Insua stated that only Panathinaikos exists for him in Greece, but he now faces plenty of criticism from fans of his previous employers for joining AEK.

Overall, Insua made 60 appearances in the Super League for Panathinaikos, contributing with four goals and three assists while impressing with his energetic, passionate approach on the left flank. Insua has been signed as a direct replacement for fellow attacking full-back Niklas Hult.

In the past, the Argentine has also represented Boca Juniors, Godoy Cruz, Granada, Udinese, Newell’s Old Boys, Racing Club and Udinese. He has been regarded as one of the leading foreign players in the Super League since transferring to Panathinaikos in August 2017.
