Olympiacos are patiently awaiting if they will be able to retain Nikola Milutinov’s services for the upcoming season as a move to NBA remains an option for the Serbian center.
Milutinov, who remains under contract with Olympiacos through to the end of the 2019/2020, negotiated an NBA opt out clause when he signed an extension with the Piraeus giants last October.
The San Antonio Spurs hold Milutinov’s draft rights after selecting the Serbian international with the 26th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, but a decision on whether or not they will recruit the 23-year-old this summer needs to finalized before the 20 July deadline.
Currently the Spurs have just two natural centers on their roster in the form of Pau Gasol and Davis Bertans, but a swoop for Milutinov remains unlikely despite the roster space available for the five-time NBA Champions.
Milutinov joined Olympiacos from Partizan Belgrade in 2015 and has since helped the club win the 2016 Greek Championship as well as reach the EuroLeague Final in 2017.
