Olympiacos back on track in Europe

After suffering two successive defeats in the LEN Champions League, Olympiacos rebounded by beating Spandau 04 11-7 in Germany.

The Erythrolefki were looking to sweep the season series against Spandau 04, after defeating their German opponents 13-8 in Athens back in November. Olympiacos got off to a decent start, finding themselves 3-2 up after the first period of play. They then took a commanding 6-3 lead going into halftime.
After the third period, the Greeks maintained an 8-5 lead. In the end, Olympiacos proved too strong, prevailing 11-7. Stefan Mitrovic led the Erythrolefki offensively with three goals, while Stylianos Argyropoulos and Konstantinos Kakaris each scored two goals as well.
Olympiacos now remain in third place (out of eight teams) in Group A, with 22 points. They will play their next match at home on April 11 against Hungary’s Szolnoki VSC. A win for Olympiacos would see them book their spot in the Final-8. After that match, Olympiacos will still have three more group stage matches.
