Olympiacos tasted a fifth consecutive defeat in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening after giving up a two-goal lead against Tottenham and eventually falling 4-2 in the English capital. The result mathematically eliminated the Erythrloefki from the Champions League as they sit on just one point after five matches and at the bottom of Group B.

Despite just one point on the board, the Piraeus giants have all to play for on the final matchday of group stage action when they host Red Star Belgrade at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. The Serbian champions currently occupy third place in the group with just three points, having only registered one win in the competition, against Olympiacos back on matchday 2. Since then, Red Star have suffered heavy defeats to Tottenham (5-0, 0-4) and most recently to Bayern Munich, a 0-6 thrashing in Belgrade.

Only a win will do for Olympiacos in their Group B finale if the Erythrolefki want to continue this season’s Europan journey. A win over Red Star on December 11th will give Olympiacos third place in the group and a ticket to the Last 32 of the UEFA Europa League. Any other result will be enough for Red Star to progress in the Europa League and mark an end Olympiacos’ European campaign.

If Olympiacos can match their performances against Tottenham and Bayern Munich at the Karaiskakis Stadium, fans will feel optimistic when Red Stay pay a visit in two week’s time.

Group B Standings
