In the A1 Men’s Water Polo League, Olympiacos concluded the season on Tuesday with a perfect undefeated record, following a 19-5 win over Glyfada in their last regular season match. Therefore, the Erythrolefki ended the season with 21 wins and one draw for a total of 64 points. This now marks their eighth consecutive league title, and 34th overall. It should be noted that Ethnikos Piraeus have won the most league titles with 38. However, Olympiacos appear to be catching up as Ethnikos Piraeus have not won the title since 2006, while the Erythrolefki have won every year since then, except for 2012. This was also the 18th double in club history, as Olympiacos also won this year’s Greek Cup back in February.

As for the A1 Women’s Water Polo League, the champion was decided by a best-of-three series between the league’s top two teams, Olympiacos and Vouliagmeni. The first match resulted in a big 11-4 victory for Olympiacos at home. Olympiacos then wrapped up the series with an 11-9 away win in the second match to win their seventh consecutive league title. This also marked the third win for Olympiacos over Vouliagmeni within one week, as the Erythrolefkes had also defeated their rivals in the last match before the finals series began. Nikoleta Eleftheriadou led the Erythrolefkes with five goals during the finals, while Vouliagmeni’s Eleni Xenaki led her team with three goals over the two matches played.

Olympiacos’ women’s water polo team have now won 11 domestic titles, and as a result are tied with Vouliagmeni for the most titles in league history. Vouliagmeni last raised the trophy in 2013. The women of Olympiacos will now look to win the Greek Cup, which would give them just their second double in club history.
