Ahmed Hassan’s first-half goal and further goals from Omar and Mady Camara in the second half saw Pedro Martins’ team claim all three points against a lacklustre Larissa who failed to threaten the visitors’ goal.

The result means that runners-up Olympiacos end what has been a disappointing 2018/19 campaign with 75 points, without a trophy for a second successive season. The Piraeus giants will surely look to regroup over the summer and we can expect club owner Vangelis Marinakis to complete an overhaul of the current squad.

THE MATCH

With Larissa not in danger of being sucked into any relegation battle and Olympiacos comfortably assured of second place, the start of this match had that typical, low-tempo, end of season air about it.

Chances were few and far between with both sides seemingly in only second and third gear for the majority of the half.

When they did manage to threaten with purpose though, Olympiacos opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Egyptian striker Ahmed Hassan.

Israel midfielder Bibras Natcho, as he has done so many times for the Thrylos this season, threaded a clever pass through for Hassan, who finished with aplomb to beat Larissa goalkeeper Ögmundur Kristinsson.

Olympiacos started the second half with significantly more energy as they had the first chance and they doubled their advantage after just four minutes.

Natcho was once again the architect, serving up his second assist of the match for Norwegian full-back Omar to score with a clinical finish.

Olympiacos continued to dominate proceedings as the half wore on and Camara added some further gloss to the scoreline with a header four minutes from time to make it 3-0.
