Previously, Olympiacos held training camps in Belgium and the Netherlands, recently defeating Goztepe 1:0 after resounding defeats against Genk and PSV Eindhoven. The Thrylos returned home to take on La Liga outfit Leganes, but despite creating several inviting opportunities, they failed to please the home fans in Piraeus with a goal.

Ahead of the match, 29-year old Leganes centre-back Dimitris Siovas, who spent five years at Olympiacos between 2012 and 2017, was given a special ceremony and received a souvenir trophy to store at home.

The Erythrolefkoi fielded a strong attacking line-up, as the likes of Konstantinos Fortounis, Daniel Podence, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos and Miguel Angel Guerrero all started the game. In a largely uneventful first half, Christodoulopoulos and Mohamed Camara fired off target from promising positions, before Fortounis has a curling effort tipped over the bar by Leganes goalkeeper Jon Serantes.

During the second set of 45 minutes, Guerrero and Camara both had a couple of decent openings, however they couldn’t hit the jackpot. Olympiacos shot stopper Andreas Gianniotis was rarely troubled with the game petering out to finish 0:0.

Olympiacos return to competitive action in early August in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round against FC Luzern.
