Olympiacos Sweep Surgut to Advance to Final

CEV CHALLENGE CUP - SEMI FINALS (LEG 2)

Olympiacos 3 - 0 Gazprom-Ugra Surgut
(25 - 22)
(25 - 17)
(25 - 21)

Olympiacos followed up on their 3-0 away win in the first leg against Surgut with a 3-0 home victory in the second leg of the CEV Challenge Cup semifinals.

Greece are back in action as they face Switzerland in an international friendly on Friday, March 23rd. Watch it LIVE from AGONAsport.com!

The Erythrolefki edged the Russian visitors 25-22 to take the first set. They then cruised through the second set, winning it 25-17. Olympiacos also came out on top in the third set, coming out on top by a score of 25-21 to complete the sweep over Gazprom-Ugra Surgut.

Olympiacos now advance to the final, where they will be looking to win their third European title in men’s volleyball. They will play against an Italian club, Bunge Ravenna. The two teams actually played against each other in the finals of the 1991-92 CEV Champions league, which was Olympiacos’ first-ever European final. Although the Italians won that one, the Greeks will hope to get their revenge this time around.

The first leg will be played in Italy on April 4. The second leg will be played on April 11 at an electrifying Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) in Piraeus rather than Olympiacos' normal home volleyball stadium, the Melina Merkouri Hall.
