Ouzounidis determined to stay on board
Panathinaikos are in a crisis both on and off the pitch as the future of the club remains uncertain. Following the defeat in Agrinio to Panetolikos, coach Marinos Ouzounidis seemed rather troubled in the postgame press conference about the club’s current status, however the Greek boss is determined to stay on board as Panathinaikos’ head coach.
In Saturday's post game interview, Marinos Ouzounidis openly expressed his doubts about remaining at Panathinaikos seeing that the “next day” at the club remains uncertain. Both the players and the coaching staff are in difficult positions as the working conditions are far from ideal and the unstable situation could leave Panathinaikos’ head coach no choice but to resign from his position. However, Ouzounidis is determined to fight through the chaotic situation and help Panathinaikos stay on their feet.
According to sources, Ouzounidis will meet with president Giannis Alafouzos within the next few days in order to discuss the president's intentions and future plans of Panathinaikos. The 48-year old manager will consider Alafouzos’ commitment to the club until the end of the season (until he eventually steps down), which will ultimately guide Ouzounidis’ decision to remain in charge.
Ouzounidis is looked at as one of the few men that are still keeping the club together and his possible departure could open up a whole new set of concerns and problems in Paiania. Ouzounidis is aware of this and will do everything in his power to remain with the Trifylli.
