Panathinaikos complete eighth all-time Finals sweep

In sweeping Promitheas in the 2019 Finals series, Panathinaikos recorded just the eighth Finals series sweep in the history of the Basket League.

Panathinaikos celebrated their third straight Basket League title after easily defeating Promitheas 111-77 in game three of the series. The Prasini had no trouble sweeping their opponents from Patra in what was an overall controversial Basket League season.

In sweeping Promitheas in the 2019 Finals series, Panathinaikos recorded just the eighth Finals series sweep in the history of the Basket League. The Prasini have now swept five Finals series including their first in 2000 against PAOK, followed by Marousi in 2004, and rivals Olympiacos in 2006 and 2013.

In the late ’80s, Aris swept Panionios in 1987 before repeating the feat one year later against city rivals PAOK. Olympiacos also have one Finals series sweep to their name which came back a few years back in 2015 against their eternal enemies, Panathinaikos.

1986/87: Aris - Panionios 3:0

1987/88: Aris - PAOK 3:0

1999/00: Panathinaikos - PAOK 3:0

2003/04: Panathinaikos - Marousi 3:0

2005/06: Panathinaikos - Olympiacos 3:0

2012/13: Olympiacos - Panathinaikos 0:3

2014/15: Olympiacos - Panathinaikos 3:0

2018/19: Panathinaikos - Promitheas 3:0
