Panathinaikos’s 2018/2019 campaign in the EuroLeague has certainly not gone to plan as the Trifylli sit outside of the playoff placements heading into the halfway mark of the season.

In fact, Panathinaikos’ campaign this season is the club’s worst-ever performance in the competition through 14 fixtures dating all the way back to the 2001/2002 season – the first-ever tournament under the governance of the EuroLeague Basketball Company.

Panathinaikos, who are 6-8 on the season, have struggled to replicate the form that has helped them dominate the Greek Basket League thus far this season with the Trifylli also enduring a run of five losses in their last six outings.

The club’s poor EuroLeague form cost Xavi Pascual his job earlier this week as Panathinaikos sacked the Spanish coach with the club now set to officially appoint Rick Pitino as head coach in the coming days.
