GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 23

Asteras Tripolis 3 - 0 Panetolikos
Valiente 26'
Kaltsas 44'
Fernandez 62'

Asteras Tripolis eased their relegation worries on Sunday by securing a resounding 3-0 home win over Panetolikos at the Theodoros Kolokotronis stadium, which was made more impressive by the fact the home side played for 86 minutes with 10 players due to the early dismissal of Konstantinos Triantafyllopoulos, while Levadiakos and Lamia played out a 1-1 draw in Livadeia.

Goals from Jose Luis Valiente (26), Walter Iglesias (44) and Marc Fernandez (62), which all came after Triantafyllopoulos was red-carded in only the fourth minute, sealed all three points for Georgios Paraschos’ team.

It’s a result which means that Asteras move up to 11th place above Larissa, but more importantly means they are now seven points clear of the relegation zone as an intense battle to avoid the drop begins to take shape.

For Traianos Dellas’ disappointing Panetolikos side, the men from Agrinio remain unmoved in the safety of seventh place with 30 points.

All square between Levadiakos and Lamia

Levadiakos 1- 1 Lamia
Adilehu 38'
Piti 43'

In Livadeia, home side Levadiakos failed to follow up their midweek Greek Cup heroics against Olympiacos with a victory over Lamia to boost their survival chances in a match which ended 1-1.

Moise Adilehou did open the scoring for Levadiakos after 38 minutes, but that effort was nullified by Piti’s leveller for the visitors three minutes before half-time.

And that’s the way the scoreline stayed at the final whistle, which Levadiakos having to settle for a point which does little to ease their anxiety in the lower reaches of the SuperLeague.

Nikos Karageorgiou’s team are still just two points clear of OFI Crete, who occupy the second relegation place with seven matches to play, while Lamia remain unmoved in ninth.
