When speaking to the media, Pantelidis announced that he is stepping down from his post as the Aris manager:

“I congratulate the opponents. They seemed to be playing with more motivation than us. If you enter the pitch thinking that the badge on your shirt will win the game by itself, you are wrong. During the week, I tried to convince my players to believe this, but it didn’t happen. I am a man who takes responsibility, so I would like to tell you that I am resigning. I consider myself solely responsible. I will inform the players of my decision when I leave this room.”

Erik Jendrisek scored the only goal from the penalty spot to earn a surprise 1-0 triumph for Volos over Aris at home on Saturday evening. In truth, Aris have endured a difficult start to the season, suffering a heartbreaking UEFA Europa League defeat against Molde and drawing 1-1 with OFI at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium last week.

Pantelidis has informed club owner Theodoros Karipidis of his decision.

Reports have subsequently revealed that Marinos Ouzounidis and Traianos Dellas are the favourites to replace Pantelidis at the Aris helm.

Pantelidis, 54, became the Aris manager in November 2018 after leaving Asteras Tripolis.
