PAOK celebrate historic double after slaying AEK

The endless PAOK party continues, as the Dikefalos tou Vorra hoisted the Greek Cup aloft in Athens to achieve an historic double after initially winning the Super League.

In 2017 and 2018, PAOK had beaten AEK in the final of the Greek Cup, and they kept the tradition going with a gritty 1:0 triumph at an empty Olympic Stadium. Chuba Akpom struck the crucial goal at the end of the first half, and despite AEK’s best efforts in the second, the toothless Kitrinomavri had no answer to PAOK’s watertight defence.

This year, injured captain Vieirinha wasn’t in Athens to lift the trophy, so talismanic midfielder Dimitris Pelkas was handed the honour:

Back home in Thessaloniki, PAOK fans began celebrating at the White Tower, lighting flares and dancing long into the night with the team set to land at Makedonia Airport at 02:30:
