PAOK no match for Panathinaikos

As expected, Panathinaikos made short work of PAOK in the Basket League, storming to a comfortable 104-88 triumph in Thessaloniki.

Panathinaikos had suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the EuroLeague at home to Olimpia Milano on Thursday, but the reigning Greek champions made sure they got back to winning ways with a routine victory against PAOK on the road. With four rounds in the books, Panathinaikos are yet to be beaten in the Basket League, while struggling PAOK have lost all of their games expect for a win against Larisa on matchday two.
Jimmer Fredette, known for his excellent shooting, finished as the leading Panathinaikos scorer with 23 points to his name. Aaron Best picked up 26 points for PAOK.
PAOK travel to Rhodes to face Kolossos next week, while Panathinaikos host Aris at the OAKA Indoor Hall.
THE MATCH
PAOK initially kept pace with Panathinaikos, but after only losing the first quarter by four points, they contrived to fall apart in the second.
As they increased the pace, Panathinaikos rapidly began running away with the game, winning the second frame by a score of 30-16 to put themselves firmly in the box seat.
A 29-21 victory in the third quarter ended the match as a contest once and for all.
Nevertheless, PAOK kept plugging away, and they did win the fourth frame by 10 points to emerge from the match with pride intact.
