In the first game, Panachaiki pulled off a major shock by beating PAOK 2:1 in Patras, but the Dikefalos tou Vorra weren’t prepared to be sent packing from the competition. The Thessalonikis were up two by half time, and in the second frame, they rolled a further three past their Football League opponents to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the Greek Cup, a competition which they have won in the past two seasons.

PAOK had the lead on away goals after just five minutes. A floating corner caught the Panachaiki goalkeeper flapping, and at the far right post, Leo Matos was on hand to bundle the ball over the line. 11 minutes later, Leo Jaba had a perfect opportunity to make it two, however he shot wide when completely clean through.

Nevertheless, the young Brazilian forward did double PAOK’s advantage on 37 minutes. Bursting past the static Panachaiki defence, Jaba found himself with only the goalkeeper to beat, calmly slotting the ball into the right corner to firmly put PAOK in the driving seat.

The tie was practically over within 60 seconds of the restart for the second half. Lurking on the edge of the penalty area, Dimitris Limnios connected with Jaba’s feed, slotting an instant attempt under the goalkeeper. On 54 minutes, the pair then switched roles, with Jaba scoring from point blank range after a cunning cross from Limnios on the right wing.

Debutant Josip Misic would have the last word. Misic, who signed on loan from Sporting Lisbon last week, scored 10 minutes after entering proceedings, launching a wonderful shot into the top corner from long distance.
