The Dikefalos tou Vorra have enjoyed plenty of success over the last few years. In 2017, PAOK ended their trophy doubt by defeating AEK in the final of the Greek Cup, before they subsequently beat the same opponents in the decisive game of the same competition in both 2018 and 2019. Last year, the Thessaloniki-based giants claimed an impressive double, as they remained undefeated to claim their maiden Super League title since 1985.
During the lengthy coronavirus break, PAOK decided to hold a vote across all social media platforms for their Team of the Decade, with the club revealing the results last weekend. Interestingly, only Alves Lino, Pablo Contreras and Pablo Garcia are the players included in the team who weren’t members of the PAOK side which won the Super League and Greek Cup in the 2019/2020 campaign:
Here is the PAOK Team of the Decade from 2010 to 2020:
Goalkeeper: Alexandros Paschalakis
Right-back: Leo Matos
Centre-back: Pablo Contreras
Centre-back: Jose Angel Crespo
Left-back: Alves Lino
Defensive midfielder: Pablo Garcia
Central midfielder: Josip Misic
Attacking midfielder: Dimitris Pelkas
Left-winger: Diego Biseswar
Right-winger: Andre Vieirinha
Forward: Aleksandar Prijovic
This season, PAOK have somewhat struggled to defend their Super League title under the guidance of Abel Ferreira, losing their undefeated run and finding themselves trailing Olympiacos by 14 points after a seven-point deduction. PAOK are only one point above third-placed AEK in the race for UEFA Champions League football.
